By Providence of God and Propagation of the human Race a sacred marriage en marriage-contract with Mothers, Relatives and other good Friends agreed upon, planned and decided between the Honorable Frerick ten Velthuis Son of the late Engel ten Velthuis and Geertjen Aisinck, married, as Groom on one side; and the virtuous Albertjen Koijelers Daughter of the late Hilwert Koijelers and Geeske Buntkens, married, as Bride on the other side, and such on terms and conditions of marriage as follows. Firstly, the Groom Frerick ten Velthuis will take his L. Bride Albertjen Koijelers into the Paternal and Maternal house, in the possession of Paternal and Maternal property, furniture as well as living goods and of the use of Paternal and Maternal lands situated inside and outside the stroke of the churchbell of Vlagtwedde, nothing excluded; In return the Mother Geeske Buntkens promises to give her good Daughter Albertjen Koijelers as Bride the sum of sixteen hundred Caroli guilders, twenty stuivers a guilder in Brabantian calculation and in certain instalments, from Maij next year on, being the year 1687, twohundred Caroli guilders and every subsequent May twohundred Caroli guilders until abovementioned sum, being sixteen hundred Caroli guilders, will be completely paid, in addition good marriage- and everydayclothing to the best of the house's ability and in accordance with the social position, two beds with accessories, a good young horse, a chest and three oak trees, and with aforementioned money and goods the Bride Albertjen Koijelers will permanently lose any further rights on the Paternal and Maternal property situated inside and outside the stroke of the churchbell of Vlagtwedde and will not be able to make any claim in the future. Furthermore it is determined that in case the young couple fails to treat good old mother Geertjen ten Velthuis as devout children are indebted to their old Parents, the aforementioned Mother may use her Paternal and Maternal property from the premises Velthuis to be able to support herself in her grey age. It is also determined, that, should the Bride Albertjen Koijelers pass away without any heir, her rightful half will go to her sister Geertjen Koijelers, and the other half in Paternal and Maternal premises will lapse; and on the other hand, if the sister Albertjen Koijelers still being unmarried will engage in a marriage and die without any heir, her rightful half will go to her sister Albertjen Koijelers and the other half in Paternal and Maternal premises will lapse as well: and furthermore it is determined that in case the youngest son Adde Koijelers should die, his goods in Paternal and Maternal premises will lapse, and go on to someone else. Apart from all this it is determined that should the Groom die without any heir, the Bride will receive twohundred silver ducats; on the other hand the Groom from the Bride's goods hundred silver ducats, except for primary goods [not sure - translator]. All without any deceit, thus planned, agreed upon, and decided, and the witnesses on the Groom's side were the Groom himself: Uncle Berent Aisinck Churchwarden and his two brothers Detmer and Wilcke ten Velthuis. And on the side of the Bride the Deacon Menne Lieffstinck and Jan ter Walslaege Churchwarden as guardians. Thus happened on April 22th 1686 and laid down in several tokens of truth I priest have subscribed by request and wish of the young people and present friends, after their concept was signed by everyone, with my hand and the attached seal.
