Philander W. Tenney was born in 1843 in Columbia, Maine. He was the son of Timothy W. Tenney and Lusina Barton. He was a lumberman and farmer. He married 1st Sarah Ayers, daughter of Charles Ayers and Louisa Maddox, on 16 December 1863 in Jonesboro, Maine; 3 children, Lewis Henry, Francis Marion, and Laura B. (m. Henry Spicer) They moved in 1888 to Washington State following his parents and siblings. He married 2nd Mary E. McPherson on 8 Dec 2017 in Orange, California. He passed away in 1914 in Los Angeles, California and is buried at the Los Angeles Odd Fellows Cemetery.
