Mary Tenney was born in Bradford, Massachusetts, in 1769.[1] She was the daughter of Thomas Tenney and Hannah Stickney.[2] She married Moses Atwood, also of Bradford, on November 17, 1788.[3][4] About three years after their marriage, the couple moved to Haverhill, Massachusetts, where her husband bought the Mansion House in 1791.[5]
Her husband died in 1808, leaving her with nine children. [6][5]

Mary Tenney (Polly, more often called Molly), born in Bradford, Massachusetts, 27 Apr., 1769, daughter of Deacon Thomas and Hannah (Stickney); married in Bradford, 17 Nov., 1788, Moses Atwood of Bradford. Residence, Haverhill, Mass., on the site now occupied by the high school building ; a merchant, afterwards manufactrued shoes. He died 8 May, 1808, of consumption. "A man of energy, truth, and charity." She was a superior woman, and lived many years " to bless her children and adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour, and fell asleep 4 July, 1853." Burial in Pentucket cemetery. [2]
