David was born to Moody Tenney and Anna Bent. In 1839, he moved to Palmer, Massachusetts and opened a store at Thorndike with R.S. White. They sold in 1840 and bought a farm with his brother Lewis. He was Justice of the Peace. He died of scarlet fever after being sick for only for a few hours.
