Biography

Samuel Tenney was born on 17 August 1719 in Rowley, Massachusetts. His parents were Samuel Tenney and Sarah (Duty) Tenney.

He married Elizabeth Atwood in 1762 in Portland, Maine. Samuel was in the fishing and whale oil business, and they lived on Great Diamond Island in Casco Bay until moving to Raymond, Maine, in the early 1800s. They were one of the first families to settle in the town.
