Biography

Name: Israel TENNIS Surname: Tennis Given Name: Israel Sex: M Birth: 12 Jul 1782 in Towamencin Twp., Montgomery Co., Pa. Death: 1 Jan 1865 in Thompsontown, Juniata Co., Pa.

  1. 1, No. 1455. V. Samuel Tennis, fifth child of Israel and Elizabeth (Hughes) Tennis; This is not 100% proof connection to my grt., grt., grandfather Samuel Tennis who appeared in Derry Twp., tax roll in 1829 as a singleman and joined his cousins George and William Tennis as shoemakers. If anyone can prove me wrong, I welcome you to it. I've seen family history books refer to hazy traditions in their connections from one generation to another. This is one hazy tradition! When my father were alive and we would go for Sunday rides thru Perry County and thru Thompsontown, he had some stuff in Pa. Dutch he would say. When I'd say what'd you say Dad? He would tell me I'm not old enough to understand that and he would laugh and I would forget all about it. He would never talk understandably about his ancestors and I never pursued the issue and I didn't really have a curiosity about my roots till after he passed away in 1992.
  1. 2 Israel purchased No. 1 property for 210 pds., and No. 2 property for 590 pds., in Annville Township, Dauphin county, Pa. prior to marrying Elizabeth Hughes and moving here to open a clothing tailor shop. Deed transaction specifies Market St. and an alley. Israel & family lived here until 1842 when he took his wife and son Israel Jr. and daughter Eliza to Thompsontown, Juniata county, Pa

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Israel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Israel:

The parents' "confirmed with DNA" relationship status indicators were removed because the DNA confirmation is undocumented.

Please see this G2G article on DNA confirmation for more information and guidance on how to provide the proper source documentation to confirm genealogy with DNA.

Also recall WikiTree Honor Code VIII: We cite sources. Without sources we can't objectively resolve conflicting information.

Thank you.

P.S., As it states in the Help for Confirmed with DNA:

"If there isn't a proper source citation the "Confirmed with DNA" relationship status should be removed (by you or another member)."
