NOTE: Because no marriage record has been found for Peter Mills and his first wife, it is not certain that her first name was Lucinia. There may have been some confusion that the gravestone for Peter's second wife, Lucinda Dougherty, which reads "Lucina" was the gravestone for his first wife.
Assuming that "Lucina" was at least 18 when her first child was born, she was born in 1809 or earlier. Based on the 1930 Census record for her husband Peter Mills, which lists a female 20-29 in his household, she was born between 1801 and 1810. [1]
Peter and "Lucina" were married before 1827 when his first son Nelson Terrell Mills was born. Based on this first son's middle name, his descendants believe "Lucina" was a Terrell (Tyrrell or Turrell). In the 1880 Census, their second son Francis Asbury Mills gives New York as the birthplace of both his parents. [2] There were Tyrrells living in Schroon, Essex, New York in 1820s and 1830s and in Lanesborough, Berskshire, Massachusetts (bordering Rensselear County).
"Lucina" and Peter had four sons, Nelson Terrell, Francis Asbury, Charles W, and William B Mills. In 1830, "Lucina" and Peter were living in Jefferson Township, Franklin County, Ohio with two sons (males under 5).
She passed away about 1833. She died in Ohio some time after the birth of her last child in 1833 and before Peter's remarriage in 1836.
