Biography
Freerk "Fred" Terviel was born in the village of Pilsum, in Lower Saxony, Germany, on November 3, 1856.
In 1880, at the age of 24, he married Mauderke Eeten.
On March 18, 1903, he arrived on Ellis Island, in New York City, having taken the "SS Kronprinz Wilhelm" from Bremen, Germany, with his wife and their six children. Their tickets were paid for by his brother-in-law. They settled in Emden, Illinois, to farm.
He died on December 4, 1949, in Emden, at the age of 93. He is buried in the Hartsburg Union Cemetary, in Hartsburg, Illinois.
