This record tells us this Wilfred (Tracy ne: Tessier) was born in Gardner, MA.[3]

The 1910 US Census of Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts, where his wife is the respondent, finds this person given as "Wilbreg" Tracy, at the age of 28yrs old; a "bottom finisher in a shoe factory," born in Maine (wrong) and married for 2yrs. He is living there in Lynn on Essex St. (perhaps 325 Essex St.), with his 24yr old wife, Ethel E. their 1yr old son, Edwin F. Tracy and his 28yr old single, brother-in-law, Charles F. Strong.[4]
The 1920 US Census of Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts finds this Wilfred T. "Tracey" at the age of 36yrs old and given as a "heel shaver in a shoe shop," born in Massachusetts. he is living there in Lynn in a residence he is renting at 139 Chestnut St. with his 35yr old wife, Ethel E. and three of their children; 11yr old Evelyn F., 7yr old Vera M. and 2yr, 6-month old Charles F.[5]
The 1930 US Census of Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts finds this person going by the name Wilfred T. Tracy, at the age of 46yrs old and given as a foreman in a shoe shop, born in Massachusetts and married since age 23yrs old. He is living there in Lynn in a residence he is renting for $39 a month with his 44yr old wife, Ethel E. and their 12yr old son, Charles W.[6]
The 1940 US Census of Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts finds this Wilfred T. Tracy at the age of 57yrs old and given as a "shoemaking foreman for Webster Slipper Co., born in Massachusetts. He is living there in Worcester in a boarding house at 772 Main St. with his 54yr old wife, Ethel E.[7]
DEATH:
A U.S. Social Security Death Index record for this Wilfred Tracy says he died in April of 1968 and that his last known residence was Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts. Also gives his date of birth as April 6, 1883, which we suspect to be in error.[8]

Wilfred Tracy, Headed Footwear Process Firm
Wilfred T. Tracy, 22 Portland St, chronicler of Lynn's shoe history and owner of the W.T. Tracy Footwear Process of Danvers, died Tuesday in Saugus General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Gardner, he was the son of the late Israel and Anne (Meaner) Tracy. After a brief period of shoe apprenticeship in that town and in Marlboro, he came to Lynn in 1903. He soon served as superintendent for many shoe firms on the North Shore, Maine and New York.
He began writing articles for trade journals in 1923 on American shoe making. He wrote for American Shoemaking magazine in the 1940s and later became editor of California Shoemaking.
DEVELOPED PROCESS
Also the owner of the Tracy & Knowles Co. of Rowley, Mr. Tracy was the originator of the widely used California process of shoe manufacturing.
In recent years he was compiling a series of articles for a shoe trade magazine entitles "Sixty-Four Years of Shoemaking."
He was a member of the East Baptist Church and The Golden Fleece Lodge of Masons for 52 years.
Mr. Tracy leaves his wife, Mrs. Ruth W. (Pendergast) Tracy, a son, Charles W. Tracy, of Tallahassee, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn T. Spencer and Mrs. Vera T. York of Lynn; a brother, Louis Tracy of Lakeville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
...Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.[9]
