Jacob was born in 1757, the son of Jacob (Sr.) and Maria Sybilia (Winterbauer) Tetrick, in Loudoun County, Virginia, where he was raised. Both of his parents were immigrants from Germany.
In around 1790 Jacob married Catherine Anna Ginger, the daughter of Ludwig Ginger, in Virginia where they would initially settle. They had the following children:
Peter (1791-1849) married Alice Anderson
George (1794- ) married Mary Mason
Abraham (1796-1838) married Anna Huffman
Margaret (about 1799- ) married Daniel Huffman
Lucinda (Nancy) (1804- ) married Henry Lewis Ginger
Charles (1808-1848) married Mary Ann Huffman.
Jacob would pass away sometime around 1818 in Illinois.
