Biography
Elias[1][2] James[3] Tew was born about 1820 in North Carolina.[4].
He was married about 1844 probably in Smith County,[3] Mississippi[4] to Clarissa Sullivan. The couple had the following known children:
Rachel Tew was born about 1846 in Mississippi.[4][2]
Daniel Tew was born about 1848 in Mississippi.[4][2]
Sarah Tew was born about 1849 in Mississippi.[4][2][1]
Elias J. Tew was born about 1853 in Mississippi.[2]
Iverson Tew was born about 1855 in Mississippi.[2][1]
Nancy J Tew was born about 1857 in Mississippi.[2][1]
On 10 Nov 1859 Elias purchased 40 acres of land (NE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Township 4 N Range 8E Section 32 in Smith County, Mississippi.[5]
Elias died sometime after 1870, possibly in Smith County.[1][6]
