Biography

Thomas Lemuel Thames was born about 1827 in South Carolina, United States.[1][2]

His father is believed to be Charles Thames, but while plausible in name, date and place, no record for this has been identified.

In 1840,1850, and 1860 Thomas and Rebecca resided in Sumter, Sumter, South Carolina, USA. He was working as an Overseer, but no information on the Industry.[3][1][2]

According to the 1850 census record, Thomas married Rebecca [Stukes] within the previous year, although her maiden name was not mentioned.

A Thomas L Thames enlisted as private in confederate army on 15 Apr 1862 in Sumter, South Carolina. He was in Hampton Legion S-Th.[4][5]
