Biography

Ichobad Thorpe was born on April 20, 1802, in Pennsylvania. He had a brother named Jacob. Evidently, they traveled to Kentucky, when they were old enough to marry. Ichobad married Mary Morris in Bracken County, Kentucky on March 29, 1827. James Savage, a Methodist minister performed the ceremony. Jacob signed as a witness on their marriage certificate. Ichobad, Mary, and Jacob, moved to Randolph County, Indiana, where Mahala Thorpe was born.

In 1830 Ichobad and family moved to Cass County and unorganized land (in what is present day Miami County), Indiana. It is believed that Jacob moved to Delaware county, where he died, Jacob was married to Sarah Thorpe, possibly a sister to Mary Morris.

Ichobad and family moved to Kansas, and later to Iowa, where they both lived the remainder of their lives. They both died in Riverside County, Iowa
