Biography

Richard Thayer, son of Richard Thayer and Dorothy (Pray) Thayer, was born in Braintree, Massachusetts Bay Colony on August 31, 1655.[1][2][3]

Richard Thayer married Rebecca Micall (Mycall) on July 16, 1679 in Braintree, Mr. Joseph Dudley, presiding.[4][5][2][3]

Richard and Rebecca had the following children, all born in Braintree:

  2. Benjamin, b. October 6, 1683,[7][3][2] m. Margaret Curtis[2]

  4. John, b. January 12, 1687/8,[8][3][2] m. Rebecca French[2]
  5. Mary, b. February 1688/9,[9][3][2] m. June 15, 1718 William Copeland[2]
  6. James, b. November 16, 1691[9][3][2]
  7. Deborah, bpt. April 11, 1697,[3][2] m. Josiah Faxon[2]
  8. Anna, bpt. November 14, 1697,[3][2] m. Dependence French[2]
  9. Gideon, b. July 26, 1700,[10][3][2] m. June 3, 1723 Hannah Hollis[2]
  10. Obadiah, b. May 1, 1703,[11][3][2] d. April 5, 1721[2]

Richard died in Braintree on December 4, 1705.[12][13] He was not the Richard Thayer who died September 11, 1729. That Richard was son of Cornelius Thayer and Abigail Hayden, in his 33rd year.[12][13]

The inventory of Richard's estate, valued at 440li. 15s, was exhibited by Rebecca Thayer and Benjamin Thayer on December 24, 1705.[2]
