DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Miriam by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Miriam:
Miriam Thayer (same dates, etc) is shown as daughter of BOTH Josiah Thayer and Ephriam Thayer (and both shown as married to Sarah Bass) - both related to Ferdinand Thayer and his father Thomas Thayer. i'm related to Miram through her marriage to Isaac Thayer (a bunch of cousins in here). i'l like to know which is correct. most of what i have lists a 'sarah' for Josiah and definitely Sarah Bass for Ephriam.
Miriam's father was Josiah Thayer. There was an Ephraim Thayer who was married to a different Sarah Bass who lived in Braintree. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Thayer-132
I too am related via Isaac and Meriam. I have a copy of a page from Family Memorial of 14 families - early settlers of New England by Elisha Thayer of Dedham printed 1835 which has Josiah mar to Sarah - no last name given. And a page from New England Marriages prior to 1700 which shows Ephriam mar to Sarah Bass and Josiah mar to Sarah Bass!
Be careful with the Family Memorial and earlier publications, they have lots of errors. There were two different Sarah Bass's who were married to Thayers. Sarah Bass (c1670-bef 1719 of Medfield and Mendon), d/o Thomas Bass and Sarah Wood m. Josiah Thayer. And Sarah Bass (1672-1751 of Braintree), d/o John Bass and Ruth Alden m Ephraim Thayer.
