Biography

Thomas was the son of Joshua and Adelia (Barker) Thayer of Carroll County, Indiana, and the brother of Nancy Jenny, Charles, Abigail, William, and Mary Ella. He was born in Carroll County in 1855. As a young man, Thomas was a farm hand on the farm of James Yoe in Carroll County. Thomas married Rose E. Watkins on June 5, 1888, in Carroll County. Their children were Samuel, Wilbur, and Russell. Thomas' older brother, Charles, also lived as a pensioner with the family. Thomas was a carpenter.
