Ernest was born in 1870 in New York to William Oliver Thayer and Theresa Hultz. He passed away in 1927 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Marriage
Ernest married Carrie Gray in 1894 in New Orleans, Louisiana. They married a second time on 1 Feb. 1905 in New Orleans, so they divorced sometime between 1900 before remarrying in 1905. Carrie shows as divorced in the 1905 marriage record under her maiden name.
Censuses
1900 Ernest was listed as an inmate in the Chattanooga, Hamilton Co., Tennessee census[1]. He is listed as married and having been married for 6 years. The reason for incarceration is not currently known, but might explain he and Carrie's divorce (and subsequent remarriage).
