George Washington Thayer was born in Calais, Vermont about 1801, the son of David Thayer and Lucy Slayton. He and Chloe Chapin/Chaplin married about 1834. They raised their family in Massachusetts. George W. Thayer died in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1873.
