He married Françoise Melanson, daughter of Pierre Melanson and Marie Blanchard on 4 Oct 1724 or 14 Oct 1725 at Saint Charles des Mines, Acadie.[2][3][4][5][6][7]
He died after 1763 and before 1765, as his wife was listed as a widow when she arrived in Louisiana around 1765 (see her Wall of Names entry on her profile), and certainly before the Louisiana census of April 9, 1766, when his wife was listed as head of household.[14]
Research Notes
Birth location of Cobequit was given on his wife's profile.
Arrived Louisiana 1765, age 56, widow of Joseph Thériot of Cobeguit; came with four sons--Thomas, age 20, Ambroise, age 17, Paul-Hippolyte, age 14, and François-Xavier, called Xavier, age 12.[citation needed]
Xavier was born about 1754 so would have been 12 in 1766. However, the other children's ages are 1 year younger than in 1766 so Xavier could be just timing. This would make his death also more likely to be 1765 or sooner.
