Biography

Anne Tarsile Thibodeau is one of twins.
CHARLES THIBODEAU is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 12 Left, La Ville D'Arcangel. Listed with him is his wife Magdelaine Henry and five children: Pierre Charles, Jeanne Tarsile, Marguerite, Helene and Marie Victoire.[1]

Jeanne Tarsille Thibodeau, a twin of Pierre Charles, was baptized on 3 July 1764 in Pleurtuit, Bretagne (today part of the department of Ille-et-Vilaine), France. Her baptismal record from Pleurtuit notes that she was born the prior day at La Moisiais (sometimes spelled as La Moysias), which is a 'lieu-dit' (hamlet or small area) that was and still is associated with Pleurtuit. She was the daughter of Charles Thibodeau and Madeleine Henry. At her baptism in Pleurtuit, her sponsors were Jan Henry and Tharsille Guérin. Her father was present. [2]

In 1785, Jeanne and her family traveled aboard La Ville d'Archangel to the port of New Orleans, arriving on 3 December 1785. [3]

Jacques François Pitre, son of Jean-Baptiste Pitre and Felicite Daigre, and Anne Tarsille Thibodeau were married 26 January 1788 in Pointe Coupee, Louisiana, recorded at St. Francis Catholic Church, Pointe Coupee, Louisiana.[4]

Her sister, Marguerite would go on to marry another 'La Ville D'Arcangel' immigrant, Nicolas Courtois, the widower of Jacques sister, Charlotte who sadly died shortly after her first child was born in 1788.

Their known children were:

  1. Jean Charles Pitre (1788-abt.1837)
  2. Madeleine Francoise Genevieve Pitre (abt.1792-)
