Hello Albert: I'm not sure I have made any progress with my Blair line. I have backed up after finding a document from the 1920's with the big issue for the 3 different John Blair's. At first it puts Alexander Blair as my John Blair's and (Susannah Ewing) father then it backs up again and places Alexander with John And Eleanor.

At the beginning of the month I did meet a possible living Blair cousin if my research is correct he is my 4th cousin. Maybe good for DNA. I'll have to wait until I meet with him again...

Hello Albert, The blairdna.com does not have my Blair line as connected to the line of choice. My line is close to that of id# 3948 Thomas Ray Blair he was a cousin and has since passed. I am not a big fan of that site.

Hi Albert, I often adopt profiles so I can manage profiles for the Louisiana or Acadian Projects. I almost always remove myself as a manager which I will do for Cyrille Thibodeaux. Having a project co-manage or manage a profile gives added protection for a profile. Profile managers receive daily notifications for any changes that are made. If a profile manager goes on vacation or inactive for a time, someone is there to protect the profile. In the Louisiana project, our policy has been not to remove other profile managers when the project is added as a manager. You are still the manager for the profile. I hope you'll join our project and continue to make contributions to our Louisiana profiles. It looks like you are serious about it and can make needed contributions. Best regards, Jackie

Hi Albert; in reply to your recent post on my profile in which you said. " First thing I did was add the "x" on the end. Then I read your note. I have seen our name written many ways but I have gotten used to my spelling in the Southwest area. So no matter how it got standardized I'll stick to it! I am pretty proud of my "Cajun" ancestry."

On WikiTree we do have a naming standard which has nothing to do with pride. We want to use the name they were born with, what is on their primary document of birth. For the profiles that fall within the Acadian project, there is a naming standard which adopts what Stephen A. White uses. See here: Acadian Project Names. Caution is advised! Thanks for writing--it's a complicated issue.

Hi, I am Dorothy, a WikiTree mentor!! Are you enjoying your time on WikiTree so far?

Now that you have had a little time to try our site, there are a few more features you may find useful:

For instance, ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards; including some tips on writing biographies

Also a friendly reminder about adding sources and references to your profile. Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes different kinds of sources: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hi Albert,

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering and sharing.  Have fun and please ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist. You can also join in on the conversation about our question of the week: Going back in time: What burning question would you ask which ancestor  If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems. You may want to edit your TAGS to include more surnames and one surname per TAG as this will allow you to find others searching for the same surnames

Enjoy the experience,

Bill D  :-D

Edited: Hi Albert, thanks for the note on Thibodeaux-121. I must confess I don't know how to interpret what you've written. If there is something incorrect on the profile, we need to fix it. If there is clarification needed, we need to add that too. If you decide to join WikiTree and are a confirmed member, I would like to work with you on improving the profile.

Hi, Albert --

Welcome to WikiTree! The email you just got from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests -- fill in at least one of your Tags with the names, locations or historical events you're researching and click the "Save Tag(s) and Volunteer" button. One of our Greeters will come along and confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.

Julie
