Biography

Friedrich was born in 1890. He was the son of Gustav Thiele and Ida Junge and was born in Niederzimmern bei Vesselbach, Sachsen-Weimar, Germany.

He sailed with his mother and five siblings from Antwerp aboard the S.S. Pennland on 23 April 1893 and arrived in New York habor on 3 May 1893.[1]

Though his World War I draft registration document lists him as a naturalized citizen of the USA[2], his citizenship papers show he filed his intention to naturalize on 18 Oct 1919. NOTE: the document contains some minor errors, e.g. the name of the ship on which he travelled to the USA from Antwerp.[3]

Whereas his World War I draft registration has his birth date as 3 Mar 1890, his World War II draft registration has his birth date as 4 Mar 1890.[4]

He married Anna Kroger on 4 Sep 1918 in Moody, SD.[5]

He died in March of 1972 in Coleman, Moody, South Dakota.[6]
