Tom was born on 19th Jan 1899 in Cwmtwtch, Llanguicke, Glamorgan, Wales to Lewis Thomas and Mary Owen.
Tom was just about old enough to volunteer for the army in WW1. He was trained on a machine gun I believe was the Gatling gun. Fortunately just as the training ended so did the war. He never got to fight in a battle. I don't know what Regiment he would have been trained with. But the included source seems to match.
He married Eleanor Mable Morgans in December 1928 in Pontardawe, Glamorgan, Wales. The couple had 2 children Desmond and Eleanor May.
During the early years of their marriage they moved to Rhandir Villa, Rhydyfro, Pontardawe, a house bought by Tom's mother Mary. Tom's mother Mary, his sister Margrett Ellen, Tom, his wife Mable and 2 children Des and May lived in Rhandir Villa together for many years. It was a small, self sufficient farm from the milk the cows provided. They would slaughter there own animals, grow their own veg and that had Cows, chicken and pigs and had it's own dairy where they would make butter and chees from the milk the cows provided.
Tom worked down a coal mine for some years. After a while he suffered from Silicosis and had a lung removed. He went back to work at the coal mine but worked on the surface not mining underground.
Tom died in Rhandir Villa in 28 Sep 1979. His mother Mary, sister Margrett had also died in the same house many years before.
