Sarah Thomas married William Apthorpe on September 19, 1834 in Caxton, Cambridgeshire, England.

Sarah Thomas Apthorpe and her husband and children immigrated to the United States in 1846, settling in Pomfret Town, near the village of Fredonia, in New York State.

Sarah Thomas Apthorpe and her husband William Apthorpe, Sr. had eight children, four whom died serving in the Union Army during the United States Civil War.

Sarah Thomas Apthorpe lost her husband on May 1, 1883 in Pomfret, Chautauqua County, New York.

Sarah Thomas Apthorpe passed away in 1895.
