Biography

Research Notes

based on other family genealogical research, this is father of Mary Amanda "Mae" (Thomas) Rutland, have yet to prove relationship. Confusing because Mary Amanda's mother's maiden name was Rutland, then she married a Thomas and had Mary Amanda, then Mary Amanda married a man with the last name Rutland. Death certificate of Mary Amanda (Thomas) Rutland lists a William D Thomas as father, not Lemuel D Thomas. According to death certificate of another child (Henry Thomas, Thomas-23702), he went by middle name of Dillard, so William may simply be an error.

Notes

I think that this may be an entry for this family where the census taker horrible misspelled the name of Dillard Thomas to Diliud Thommas. Have wife Bettie (age is slightly off) and children Thomas and Mary the right ages, correct county in Alabama.

"United States Census, 1880," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M4JC-PJV : 11 August 2016), Diliud Thommas, Bartons, Colbert, Alabama, United States; citing enumeration district ED 37, sheet 427B, NARA microfilm publication T9 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.), roll 0008; FHL microfilm 1,254,008.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Lemuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Lemuel:
