When Huldah Thomas was born on April 7, 1809, in Piney Grove, North Carolina, her father, John, was 40, and her mother, Lydia, was 34. She married Levi Pearson on September 24, 1825, in New Garden, Indiana. They had two children during their marriage. She died as a young mother in 1828 in Duck Creek, Indiana, at the age of 19, and was buried there.
