Edward Thomas was born in about 1809 in St Anne's, Westminster. He was the son of Edward Thomas, a gentleman.
Edward married Sarah Panchaud on 24 Dec 1853 at Holy Trinity Church in Hoxton, Middlesex. He was 44 and a proctor's clerk living at 84 Herbert Street; Sarah was 35, and lived at 29 Napier Street. Neither had been married before. Their fathers were named as Edward Thomas (deceased gentleman) and Paul Panchaud (deceased jeweller). The witnesses were Jno [John] Thomas, David Thomas and Julia Panchaud.
Edward died on 9 Nov 1868, aged 59, at his home, 98 Godalming High Street. He was buried on the 13th in Nightingale Cemetery, Godalming, in the unconsecrated section. His widow Sarah was his executrix.
Sarah died on 15 Apr 1878, aged 59 (according to her gravestone) or 60 (according to the burial record) at her home in Godalming High Street. She was buried on the 22nd in Nightingale Cemetery, Godalming, in the unconsecrated section, near Edward.
