Biography

Phillip Henry Thomas was born on January 17, 1828 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, United States, son of Nathaniel Price Thomas (1798–1851) and Rebecca E. Walters (1799–<1850).

P. H. Thomas was in the 1850 Dallas Co AR Census. Occupation: Farmer. By 1860, Phillip was listed as a Merchant with real property value of $9250 & personal property of $41,500. His younger brother Junius lived with the family; his occupation given as Clerk. A. J. Rounsaville, a 24 year old lady, also lived with them - possibly a younger sister of Philip's wife, Mary Rounsaville George W. Taylor, age 35, merchant, born in Alabama also lived with the Thomas family - probably a business partner.

1870, still in Dallas Co. Philip was 42, a Drygoods Merchant. Mary E. age 42, Rebecca C age 19, Henry R. age 17, clerk in store, Phillip 15, Mary 14, Charly 11, Ida 8, and Fannie 2.

Phillip died on January 5, 1878 in Melvins, Dallas County, Arkansas, United States, aged 49.^[1]
