I am a Welshman with a keen interest in genealogy and have researched my family background for roughly 25+ years. I have proven roots in both north and south Wales from Gwynedd to Pembrokeshire, Powys to Breconshire.
One of my discoveries included finding the baptism record during 2006 of the famous Welsh heroine Jemima Nicholas of the last French invasion near Fishguard in the year 1797.[1]I have also establishing my close blood connection to the Welshman Private Thomas Collins of the 24th regiment of foot from Pelcome, Pembrokeshire that fought and survived in the battle of Rorke's Drift during 1779. [2]
Through my research I've also disovered that my fourth great grandmother Mary Stratford descended from the Stratford family of Farmcote[3], Gloucestershire whom were direct descendants of the Throckmorton family of Coughton court[4] whom are said to have plotted to depose Elizabeth I of England and replace her with Mary, Queen of Scots. The Throckmortons were also co-conspirators to the gunpowder plot to overthrow parliament in 1605 that lead to the demise of Guy Fawkes[5] amongst others.[6]
Acadian heritage connections: Andrew is 30 degrees from Beyoncé Knowles, 28 degrees from Jean Béliveau, 25 degrees from Madonna Ciccone, 27 degrees from Rhéal Cormier, 26 degrees from Joseph Drouin, 27 degrees from Jack Kerouac, 25 degrees from Anne Langstroth, 26 degrees from Matt LeBlanc, 25 degrees from Roméo LeBlanc, 25 degrees from Azilda Marchand, 27 degrees from Mary Travers and 26 degrees from Clarence White on our single family tree. Just a reminder that reliable sources for pre-1700 profiles should be added at the time of profile creation. Please see https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources
kind regards, Gill
As we are a collaborative tree, it would be a great help if you could be a bit more explicit about your sources. For instance: If these are from a family bible or work done by another family member that you inherited or a birth or death certificate, giving specifics will help others know where the information comes from. Anything would be helpful.
Here is what our Sources help page says. It has lots of ideas: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources.
Thanks for your WikiTree participation. Looking forward to your contributions!

Just a note re your addition or arms to the profile of William Stratford. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:England_Project:_Overview_of_Heraldry_and_Coats_of_Arms
This page has great information and should be used as a guide before adding images of arms to English profiles. Cheers, Elizabeth - co-leader England Project

Just a reminder that reliable sources are required for Pre-1700 Profiles. More information can be found on the England Project Reliable Sources.
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.
Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: New Member How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.
Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
