About the death date (by Stuerke-1): I have seen a John D. Thomas in Saline Co. MO. He was brother to Notley Thomas and is not related to the children shown in either the Mary Thomas will of Saline Co. MO 1843, nor those same children shown in the Kentucky will of John Thomas in 1824. Hardin Thomas, born 1811, who helped administer the will of his mother Mary, would appear to be named for his Uncle, Hardin Thomas b. 1760, the brother of John Thomas, subject of this profile.

From where then, did come the death Apr 1848, Carroll, MO? A significant compilation of Thomas Family history was published by James Clifton Winfrey. There we find that John's sister, Sarah Thomas b. 1772 and married Henry Winfrey, died 14 May 1845 in Carroll Co. MO. I also have notes on children mentioned in the will of Robert Thomas. These include Turpin Thomas, Fleming Thomas, John Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas, Mary Ann Thomas, Sarah Thomas and Edmund Thomas. The 1840 census of Carroll Co. MO shows John Thomas age 40-49. This must be John Thomas b.1790 and d. 1848 Carroll Co. MO (son of Robert) who was married to Nancy Drake in Adair Co. KY. Clearly he wasn't the father of children born before 1800. He is not the intended John of this profile.

John with the siblings and parents shown in this profile wrote his will 1824 in Lincoln Co. KY.

Thomas-25591 and Thomas-7868 do not represent the same person because: Too many differences such as the death date, spouse name, etc.

Please reveal the source of death date and location for John Thomas. I have now discussed my findings on the two profiles, The surname of the wife of John Thomas may always be in contention. I would recommend showing both wife profiles with explanation that there is a KY marriage record of 1800 and there is a (my) family record for Northcutt dating back, prior to 1943. Thanks for your further discussion.

Thomas-25591 and Thomas-7868 appear to represent the same person because: John Thomas connections to their earlier COMMON parents is explained in the profile of 25591. The will of father to this John identifies John as constructed in both profiles. The difference in spouse names is also explained. Recommend merge with both spouses. Though there is a KY marriage record, I highly suspect Johnson. Please merge.
