Charles Thompson was born on 07 Jan 1870 in MacDonald River, New South Wales, Australia^[1] as the fourth child of George Thompson and Mary Preston. He had twelve siblings, namely: George Matthew, Joseph, James, William, Thomas, Isabella, Hannah, Elizabeth, Frances, Jessie, Winifred A., and Ada M.. He died on 28 Apr 1949 in Windsor, New South Wales, Australia.

When he was 41, he married Ann Archer Bailey,daughter of Matthew Bailey and Hannah Fernance, on 13 Sep 1911 in St Albans, New South Wales, Australia^[2].
