Sarah THOMPSON was born in 1635 in Northumberland, Virginia, she is the child of Richard and Ursula Thompson. She married Thomas Willoughby on October 2, 1652, in Mason, Virginia.[1]
"The son ( Thomas Willoughby III) was born in Virginia on Christmas Day, 1632, and was educated at the Merchant Tailors School in London, where he was recorded as "only son of Thos. Willoughby of Virginia, gentleman." [2]
About 1660 he married
Sarah, daughter of Richard Thompson of Northumberland County, Virginia, formerly of Maryland. He died in 1672, and though his will has been lost, there is a record of inventory and appraisal of his estate dated 15 May 1672, in which he was called "Lieut. Col. Thomas Willoughby deceased." The widow, Sarah Willoughby died, according to her will probate, in February, 1673/4; her executors were her son and daughter, Thomas and Elizabeth, and two of the four "overseers" for the will were Lemuel Mason and George Newton.[3] The son, Thomas III, is said to have married Margaret, daughter of the first John Herbert" History of Lower Tidewater Virginia page 268[4]; but that is unlikely.
NOTE: One discrepancy, in the will of 1673 it is stated that Sarah Willoughby is a Widow.
