Jacob Thompson, born in Ireland, settled in Pennsylvania, where he is shown in the Chester County tax records for London Grove from 1753 to 1763.[1] [2] Later he moved west to Fayette County, probably after the Revolution when it was safer and land ownership was more reliable once the Pennsylvania-Virginia border dispute was resolved in 1780.
