Y DNA and autosomal DNA testing make it most likely that my grandfather Charles is the biological son of one of the descendants of James Walsworth Elmore. Which descendant that could be is unknown.
My closest Y DNA match at 36/37 is with a descendant of Edward Elmer Jr and Hezekiah Elmer 1686: Esco Elmer. Followed closely by two other recently discovered descendants of Edward Elmer Jr one at 35/37 and the the other at 65/67. All of these testers share four (currently private) Y SNPs along with one SNP that occurs on the line of Edward Elmer Jr .
One match through Edward's son Samuel at a level of 35/37. This tester has two singleton Y SNPs not matched by any other Elmers yet.
Trailing the pack for my Y matches are two through Edward's son John at 33/37 and 34/37.
We've attempted to document our testing results here: STR and SNP Comparisons and our process here: Big Y and YSEQ Results 1
Our Y DNA results may be listed as either R-Z14, R-DF95, CTS12023 etc...
These Y results would be consistent with James Walsworth (or Walworth) Elmore who is down the line of Hezekiah.
An autosomal test with a member of James Walsworth Elmore's family came back as a good match, and at a minimum paternal for us, but has not been proven conclusively to come from James, his wife or their ancestors through segment triangulation.
As a group The Elmers, Elmores and I have worked through Y and Big Y testing to layer ourselves and get a better handle on the relationships within the family of Edward Elmer. You can see and compare our results here at the U106 Y project. We are also part of the R-Z18 and subgroups project in the Cumberland Cluster B.
Paternal relationship confirmed by 3,586cM match between Gedmatch kit: M202443 Mike Thompson and his father, Gedmatch kit: M075836 T Thompson.
Maternal relationship with S Hutchinson confirmed by AncestryDNA match of 227 centimorgans shared across 13 DNA segments with first cousin two times removed Keffert and AncestryDNA match of 66 centimorgans shared across 6 DNA segments with first cousin two times removed Marykpopadince10, both granddaughters of Michael Joseph Murphy and Mary Ellen Willoughby.
Maternal relationship confirmed by a 23 and me 92cM, 6 segment match with 3rd cousin R Lynch 2nd great grandson of Daniel Hutchinson and Anna Grice.

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Also noticed you made 357 contributions to Wikitree, wow thank you! Here at WikiTree we like to have our members involved with others; collaboration is key!
Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in?
You may want to add some tags on your page indicating a family name for one tag and a specific location like a country, state etc you are interested in, for another tag and then add other surnames or locations as tags as desired. That way you will be connected to others with the same interest.
Click on http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following to add or remove tags. Be sure to add comments explaining why you're following the tags.
