Rebecca was born in 1813 in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. She passed away in 1855 in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana, USA. She was the daughter of William Thompson and Nancy Ward.
Her father, William received a land grant in 1813 in what is today Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.
Taking this known fact into consideration it is questionable about Rebecca's place of birth. Her father is listed on the 1800 Territorial Census for Mississippi. Since the land grant was dated 1813 it is most likely that her siblings from William Thompson were born in Mississippi Territory and she could have been born in what is today Tangipahoa, Louisiana. Keep in mind the shifting lines of the parishes as they formed and it is also possible that she was indeed born in what is today Washington Parish, Louisiana.
Washington Parish, Louisiana was created on March 6, 1819 from St. Tammy Parish.
St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana was created on October 27, 1810 from Feliciana County and Spanish West Florida Territory.
The 1820 Census shows Will Thompson as living in Feliciana, Louisiana thus proving that at least by the age of 7 she was living in Louisiana. She was most likely born there also.
