Biography

1845 baptism records show his name as Charles Frederick Gustavus Thompson and list his father as John[1]

He was baptised 21 July 1845 in the Parish of St Peter in Liverpool and his father is listed in the Bishop's Transcripts as John Thompson Mariner living in Soho St. It lists his birthdate as 29/12/1844.

By the 1851 census his mother had married Charles Brittain a watchmaker and he had a brother Frederick b 1847 and stepsister Agnes b 1851 in Birkenhead Cheshire.

1861 census he changed his name to Brittain and was a Printers machine boy as was his brother. The were four more step siblings Caroline b 1853, Charles b 1855, Harriet b 1857 and Fanny b 1859.

1866 marriage records show his father was George Frederick Thompson, Surgeon. This is not supported by his baptism records. George Jnr and Elizabeth were living at 6 Union Place Clerkenwell. His occupation was Printer.

1876 he was living at 126 Camberwell Rd and he was a Printer. Refer his daughters Baptism records.

1881 census[2] was living at 126 Camberwell Rd Camberwell with wife and 6 children. He was a Printer and Stationer. Next door at 124 was a Joseph Thompson aged 53 a retired builder and his family. Could they be related?

1891 census he was living at Rose Villa Hextable with wife and 7 children.

1911 census he was living at Rose Villa, Plantation Rd Hextable Swanley Junction Kent with his wife.

Death records show a George F G Thompson died in Dartford aged 78 in Dec qtr 1924.

Probate records show a George Frederick Gustavous Thompson of Rose Villa Hextable Swanley Kent died 26/10/1924 and he left his estate to John Eckley grocers manager. According to 1911 census John was his son in law and married to Elizabeth Rosina b 1877 Camberwell London.
