Lord John Thompson, 1st Baron Haversham (1648-1710) of Haversham, Bucks & Upper Gatton and Richmond, Surr. was the 2nd but 1st surv. s. of Maurice Thompson (d. c.1676), East India merchant, of Worcester House, Mile End Green, and Bishopsgate Street, London by Dorothy, da. of John Vaux of Pemb. educ. Lee, Kent (Mr Watkin). He was admitted to L. Inn 1664 and matriculated Sidney Sussex college, Camb. in 1664, going BA in 1667. He m. (1) 14 July 1668, Lady Frances (d. 1705), da. of Arthur Annesley, 1st Earl of Anglesey, wid. of John Windham of Felbrigg, Norf., 3s. (1 d.v.p.) 8 da.; (2) 10 May 1709, Martha Graham (d. 1724), wid. s.p. He was cr. Bt. 12 Dec. 1673 and Baron Haversham 4 May 1696.
