Cumberland Argus and Fruitgrowers Advocate (Parramatta, NSW : 1888 - 1950), Saturday 16 November 1912, page 8. [2] Dural. Golden Wedding. — The celebration of the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel James Moore, of Myrtle Villa, Dural, was the occasion of a happy and numerous gathering at their residence, on Saturday, November 9th. All the descendants were present, with the exception of Miss May Parker, who is a teacher in the superior public school, Nowra. Mr. T. Thompson (brother of Mrs. Moore), who was best man; Mrs. J. P. Crane (sister of Mr. Moore), who was bridesmaid at the wedding 50 years ago; Mrs. Z. Bellamy and Mrs. R. Herrod (sisters of Mr. Moore), and a few other relations, were among the guests, the company numbering over 60. They were photographed during the afternoon. Great credit was due to Miss Emmie Moore, daughter, and Miss Florrie Moore, grand-daughter, for the way in which the tables were decorated in greenery, flowers, and flags. Mr. Sam. Moore, the eldest son, moved to the head of the table, and, after a very appropriate speech, presented to his mother (who handed it to her husband) a purse of sovereigns, on behalf of their sons and daughters. Mr. Albert Moore suitably responded on behalf of his father. The healths of the bride and bridegroom, best man and bridesmaid, sons and daughters, with their wives and husbands, grand-children, and others, were drunk. Mr. and Mrs. Moore have lived on their property at Myrtle Villa during their married life, and, it is pleasing to note that with the exception of two infant daughters and one infant grandson, who passed away many years ago, the families still remain unbroken, and, are all enjoying good health. A number of young friends were invited to join the company in the evening, and these now began to arrive, and brought the gathering up to between 70 and 80. The evening was spent in music, singing, and games, which one and all thoroughly enjoyed. Supper was served at 10 p.m., and the company broke up at 11.30. Mr. and Mrs. Moore were the recipients of many congratulations and telegrams, and quite a number of very hand-some and useful presents.
