Biography

Mary Bowden Thompson was born on February 24th 1810 in River Philip Township, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of Richard Thompson and Elizabeth Read. [1]

Mary Bowden Thompson married Stephen Oxley on February 25th 1833 in Wallace, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. Stephen is the son of John and Ann (nee Baker) Oxley.

The Canada Census 1871 lists the family no. 1 with Stephen Oxley (occ: farmer age 68) and Mary (nee Thompson) Oxley (age 47) with children Thompson (age 35), Charles (29), Amos (age 26), Frederick (age 21) and Alexander (age 18) and female Oxley (age 12). Also listed were Jane Carter (30) and a male Oxley (age 40) [2]

Mary Bowden Thompson died May 27th 1878. She was buried at River Philip United Cemetery, River Philip, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. [3]
