David Thompson served in the United States Civil War.

David was born in 1841.[1]

He was the son of Obediah Thompson and Mary Jane Williams.

David and Sarah Elizabeth Lea were married Dec. 5, 1867 in East Feliciana Parish. [1][2][3][4]

Issue of David Carter Thompson and Sarah Elizabeth Lea

David was a member of Company A, Fourth Louisiana Regiment, Civil War; his enlistment took place at Camp Moore, on May 25, 1861. He was wounded twice: at Shiloh, April 6-7, 1862, and at the battle of Atlanta, July 28, 1864.

He is listed on the federal rolls of prisoners of war at Citronelle, Alabama, on May 4, 1865. He was paroled at Meridian, Mississippi, on May 14, 1865.

He is mentioned in Reluctant Rebel: The Secret Diary of Robert Patrick, 1861-1865[7]Patrick, a native of Clinton, Louisiana, was also a member of the Fourth Louisiana

A prominent farmer and lumberman, David was also a trustee of Kernan Collegiate Institute, East Feliciana Parish.

David passed away in 1924.[8]
