He married Clarissa Tryon on 26 Mar 1855 in Barre, Washington, Vermont.[1] Children:
- Nellie Thompson b abt 1856 VT
- Benjamin James Thompson b abt 1859 VT
- Maria Thompson b abt 1865 WI
According to his records at the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers he served as a corporal in Company B of the 21st Wisconsin Infantry from 14 Aug 1862 (enlisting at Fremont, Wisconsin) until 15 May 1868 when he was discharged as a result of disability at Murfeesboro, Tennessee. He was a tall man at 6'4", and according to this record his occupation was physician. He was listed as a widower, and gave as his next of kin an uncle, Orville Allen of Hyde Park, Massachusetts.[2]
He died in Los Angeles County, California in 1914.[3][4][5]
