Archibald Thompson is an NSSAR Patriot Ancestor.
NSSAR Ancestor #: P-303993
Rank: Soldier
Daughters of the American Revolution
Archibald Thompson is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A113848.

The DAR/ SAR list him in 1776 as a Guard at the Blue Stone Creek Station under Capt Robert Crockett and is noted as a Sgt in Daniel Triggs the NSDAR record states: Soldier: Guard of Forts. [1]

Like his brother and father, he served in the American Revolutionary War, although the records would indicate that perhaps he was an unwilling enlistee. On more than one occasion persons were forced into service under false pretenses. Such may have been the case here? In any case, Archibald distinguished himself as a soldier and eventually attained the rank of Major.

Archibald Thompson married Rebecca Peery (daughter of George Peery & Martha Davidson) and their children included ...

  1. William Thompson
  2. John Thompson
  3. Martha Davidson Thompson m: 15 Oct 1818 #Milton Ward
  4. Nancy Thompson m: 01 Feb 1827 John Rutledge.

He passed away on 04 Aug 1846 and was buried at Thompson Cemetery in Benbow, Tazewell County, Virginia as was his wife. [2] [3]

It looks like a transcription error may have been made regarding the birth month for this profile. The quoted source is Find a Grave index. If you go to the actual Find a grave memorial, there is a gravestone photo and enlarging it, clearly shows that the birth month is JUNE.

Are you agreeable to adjusting this profile accordingly so it can be merged with its duplicate? Thanks

Thompson-43971 and Thompson-7949 appear to represent the same person because: duplicate profiles with same birth date and same death date and same wife. Wikitree policy is that there should only be one profile for any individual. A previous merge request was rejected, so if this one is rejected again, please provide the reason why, so that I can find a source to resolve the issue. Thanks

I am a data doctor trying to fix errors generated in the weekly database report. There are a number of errors being generated around this porfile because of duplicates. Wikitree policy states that each individual should only have one profile. Duplicates cannot be deleted, they must be merged together.

His line has duplicate profiles for about 4 generations down, and we can't merge them until we merge the oldest ones in the line. So we need a reason why this merge was rejected, so that someone can do research in order to solve this problem. Thanks
