There is a discrepancy between dates on births in the documents. His death registration records his birth date as 29th August 1888, but as his death was registered by a third party - probably a child, then it is subject to error. His 1939 Register entry records his birth date as 30th August 1889.
However there is no birth registration of a Francis Joseph or Francis Joseph Michael Thomson/Thompson in 1888 or 1889.
His father David Joseph Thompson did have a son Francis Joseph Thompson born in 1891[8] , and it is likely the birth registration entry would confirm a birth date of 29th or 30th August.
The Frank Thompson in 1911 is most likely the same man, as there was no other Frank or Francis born about 1891 at Chatham, Kent. However no army enlistment or discharge records can be found for him.
