Biography

Margaret was born in 1848. She was the daughter of Joseph Thompson and Jane Unknown. She passed away in 1936.

Research Notes

Margaret's marriage certificate, death certificate and gravestone all provide her age based on an 1850 DOB. However, Margaret appears on the passenger list for the Harmonia in May, 1850 and the 1850 Census in East Windsor, Connecticut, aged 2 years. The 1860 Census also has her aged 12, while the 1870 Census says she's aged 21.

Furthermore, in nearly every Census record from 1880 onwards, Margaret's age is incorrect, in some cases her year of birth is listed as late as 1856.

No birth record has been found yet in Scotland. Until then, her birth will be listed as Aug. 1848, despite the later records.
