I was born on July 30, 1052 in Eureka, California. My mother's name was Esther (Beed) Thompson a Suzuki violin teacher and first chair violinist in the Humboldt Symphony. Father, Mavel Woodrow Thompson otherwise known as Woody Thompson was music teacher at Arcata High School for 22 years. He also was involved with several community bands and his own Dixieland type band for many years.

Woody's mother Gertrude (Stone) Thompson born in 1884 in California. She hailed from a family that made it's way west in a wagon train and settled in the valley north of the logging town of Scotia.

Woody's father Ansel Richard Thompson was born February 6, 1867 in Five Islands, Colchester, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was a foreman of the shingle division of Pacific Lumber Company and worked for the company for 22. Graduated from Eureka High School in 1970 and Humboldt State University in 1974. Married Ruben Barrera Vela Botello in 1971. Two children Ruben Woodrow Botello born on Sept 8, 1976 and Juan Miguel Botello born on April 27, 1979.

Gertrude and Ansel (20 years her senior) were married in 1904.

They had 2 children, Woody and an older brother who passed in early childhood.

My mother's parents Lillian (Westman) Beed and Richard Beed met on a ship bound for the U.S. when she was 18 years old. She originated from Sweden and he was coming from England (but probably was living in the US at that time).

They had 4 children. Esther Margaret Beed, Sterling Beed, Carl Beed and ?

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

You mentioned that you don’t know much about your family tree yet. I assume you are new to genealogy. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point.

Take your time, keep track of sources and ask questions. Check here for tips.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.
