John Clayton Thompson was born on June 2, 1891 in Bluefield, Tazewell, Virginia, United States, son of Rufus Walter Thompson (1868–1938) and Martha Florence Brooks (1870–1943).[1][2]

John (20) married Margaret Jane Sanders (19) (born on April 21, 1892 in Clear Fork Magisterial District, Tazewell; daughter of James M. Sanders and Paulina Alice (Grubb) Sanders) on December 24, 1911 in Tazewell County, Virginia.[3]

He lived in Pocahontas, Tazewell, Virginia, United States in 1920 and Clear Fork District, Tazewell, Virginia, United States for about 10 years.[4]

He registred for both Drafts.[5][6]

He died on 14 April 1961, in Bluefield, Tazewell, Virginia, United States, at the age of 68,[7] and was buried in Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, Tazewell, Virginia, United States.[8] John Clay Thompson is my great-uncle from my father's mother's family.[9]
