He died on 14 April 1961, in Bluefield, Tazewell, Virginia, United States, at the age of 68,[7] and was buried in Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, Tazewell, Virginia, United States.[8] John Clay Thompson is my great-uncle from my father's mother's family.[9]
