Biography

Mariah was born in 1799. She passed away in 1874.

Willie (Wiley, Wylie) Turner was married 13 Nov 1817, Davidson, Tennessee, to Mariah Page Thompson (1799–1874). By 1820 they were in Humphreys County and built a large house next to Big Richland Creek, north of Waverly. Mariah donated the land for the church near their home.

They had 11 children: William G Turner 1819–1842, Robert Thompson Turner 1821–1899, Holly Frances Turner 1822–1870, John Thompson Turner 1824–1898, Sarah Elizabeth Turner 1827–1891, Thomas T Turner 1829–1910, Charles New Turner 1831–1914, Martha Ann Turner 1832–1925, James Henry Turner 1834–1907, Willie Van Buren Turner 1836–1909, Andrew Jackson Turner 1843–1923.

Willie and Mariah were buried at the Hart Johnson (Turner) Cemetery, on the Wheeler Farm, originally the Turner farm, Big Richland Creek, Hwy 13 North, Waverly. In 1996 the cemetery was in the fenced off area in the pasture next to the original Wiley Turner house.
