He married Elizabeth Jones (abt.1845-) on 8 Mar 1880 in Lafayette County, Mississippi, United States.^[1]

Jake died before the 1910 census was enumerated (his wife was recorded as widowed in the census).^[2]

Research Notes

• Jake was living with Mingo Thompson, Adaline Thompson, and Sarah Thompson when the 1870 census was enumerated. Adaline was identified as Mingo's wife in the 1880 census, Sarah's relationship is still unknown, and there is an Amanda Thompson in the 1880 census who was identified as Mingo's sister. There is no confirmation that Jake was also the sibling of Mingo and Amanda (though it's likely).
• G Thompson and L Thompson in the 1870 US census (who are the neighbors of Jake) may be his parents.^[3]
• His father may be Rufus Thompson who helped him pay his marriage license fee.
