William Thompson was a convict after the Third Fleet transported to New South Wales
William Thompson was born about 1793 at Norwich, Norfolk, England[1].
He was tried in England and sentenced to 7 years transportation for "Highway Robbery"on 15/7/1817. He arrived at Port Jackson on board the ship "Neptune" on 5 May 1818[2][3].
William married Sophia Chipp on 9 Oct 1819 in Liverpool, New South Wales, Australia[4] and they were the parents of Mary Thompson, Jane Thompson, Susannah (Thompson) Plunkett, Maria Thompson, Thomas Thompson, Ellen Thompson, Sophia (Thompson) Lawless, William Thompson, Robert Thompson, John Thompson, Edward Thompson, Mary Ann Thompson, James Thompson and Charles Thompson.
He farmed land at Seven Hills Sydney Near Sophia's Family untill after his Conditional Pardon was granted by Governor Burke on 28 February 1834 .
He then moved his family to Maneroo (Monaro) where he ran an inn at Michelago from 1838 to 1840 then farmed some land around Cooma before heading down to Eden where he was a Licensee of the Honeysuckle Inn at Wyndham, from 1855 to 1856.
Sophia died in 1850 and He remarried to Mary Callaghan in 1853[5].
He died on 2 April 1866 (Age 73) at Eden, South Coast and Illawarra, New South Wales, Australia[6] and was buried on 4 April 1866 at Eden, New South Wales, Australia[7][8]. His Last Will and Testament No. 6848.
