Emma was born in 1863 in Norway. She migrated at age 9 to the United States in 1873 or 1872 living with her family in Minnestota. She was naturalized as a US citizen in 1892. That same year, she married fellow immigrant Johan Peder Magnussen, although by that time, they had both anglicized their names.
The couple moved to Great Falls Montana in 1892 where John worked and lived at silver mining smelter.
The couple had 5 children, 4 of whom lived to adults with their own families.
She passed away in 1928 and was buried at Great Falls, Montana.

Mrs. Emma Magnuson Dies Here Thursday at Home of Her Son
Mrs. Emma Magnuson, widow of the late John Magnuson, died at the home of her son, Elmer Magnuson, 1805 First avenue north, Thursday morning following an illness of several months. Mrs. Magnuson was 65 years old and had been in failing health since last November.
Mrs. Magnuson was one of the pioneer residents of Great Falls coming here from Minnesota in 1892. For several years she and her husband lived at the old silver smelter near Giant springs, moving into the city of Great Falls in 1901 following the close of the silver smelter.
She was born in Bergen, Norway, and came to the United States when a child of 9 years locating with her parents in Minnesota. Mr. Magnuson died eight years ago and since then she has made her home with her son.
Besides the son, Elmer Magnuson, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. John Swanson of Portland; Mrs. C. H. Moyer and Miss Irene Magnuson of Great Falls.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with the Rev. A. Lunde officiating. Interment will be made in Highland cemetery

Also checked all the Bergen parishes for her birth, but cannot find recorded. Bergen is indicated in her obituary below. (Should check Stord Norway based on 23andMe)
Her funeral service was at Our Savior Lutheran Church, and they would be founding members in 1892. Only one Emma Tomassen returned searching the Nowegian Archives born 1863 is up north, maybe she only sailed from Bergen?
